Improved measurement of lateral parasagittal articulation integrating three-dimensional palate shape
Parasagittal tongue sensor positions alone unreliably measure lateralization. • Lateralization is reliably quantified using EMA with 3D palate shape data. • Tongue-side lowering relative to the palate distinguishes /l/ from /t/ and /n/. • Taiwanese Mandarin /l/ does not show greater lateral asymmetry than /t/ or /n/. • Lateral tongue bracing before /l/ release is vowel-dependent, occurring only in /i/. This study uses electromagnetic articulograp…

A dual mechanism for intrinsic f0
Variability of articulator positions and formants across nine English vowels
Investigating dialectal differences using articulography
Effects of Compatible versus Competing Rhythmic Grouping on Errors and Timing Variability in Speech
In typical speech words are grouped into prosodic constituents. This study investigates how such grouping interacts with segmental sequencing patterns in the production of repetitive word sequences. We experimentally manipulated grouping behavior using a rhythmic repetition task to elicit speech for perceptual and acoustic analysis to test the hypothesis that prosodic structure and patterns of segmental alternation can interact in the production …
