  • Identification of low-concentration tar in wood samples from archaeological contexts by ATR-FTIR

    Open Access•Thea P B Christophersen, Kidane Gebremariam et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2025•Referencias: 9

ATR-FTIR used non-invasively and micro-destructively detected invisible tar in wood. • Acetone extraction of wood enabled unequivocal identification of tar. • ATR-FTIR was too unprecise to differentiate tar source as birch bark or pine wood. • Site information and visual analysis helped to identify tar source as pine wood. The investigation of pine tar residues in wood recovered from a waterlogged historic pine tar production site is presented. T…

  • The concealed interment of a first‐trimester foetus in Gällared Parish Church (1831), Sweden

    Open Access•E Maltin, G Turner‐walker et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020•Referencias: 5

In 2015, during architectural restoration works on the parish church (1831) in Gällared, Sweden, a small wooden box was discovered beneath the floorboards. Unaware of the possible significance of the box and its contents, workers on site removed its lid, revealing a piece of folded cloth. This was later found to be wrapped around fragments of human foetal remains. Although largely forgotten now, concealed interment of foetuses in, and around, chu…

  • Application of redox proteomics to the study of oxidative degradation products in archaeological wool

Open Access•Caroline Solazzo, Stefan Cleren et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2015•Referencias: 22

  • An assessment of procedures to remove exogenous Sr before 87Sr/86Sr analysis of wet archaeological wool textiles

    Open Access•Isabella C C von Holstein, L Font et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2014•Citada por: 6•Referencias: 8

  • The Raar Project — Heritage Management Aspects on Reburial After Ten Years of Work

Inger Nyström Godfrey, Thomas Bergstrand et al.•ARTICLE•Conservation and Management of…•2012

The general purpose of the international reburial project, Reburial and Analyses of Archaeological Remains (RAAR), is to evaluate reburial as a method for the long-term storage and preservation of waterlogged archaeological remains. Since 2001 material samples have been buried, retrieved, analysed systematically, and the results reported.RAAR has mainly focused on the degradation of materials commonly encountered on archaeological sites, and on e…

Open Access•Annick Vuissoz, Michael Worobey et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2006•Citada por: 7
