Profiling Virtual Employees
Leaders in the age of virtual work require an understanding of how this affects their employees' relations with management. The Structure of Leader Influence
This is an exploratory study examining the structure of leader influence among Australian, English, Japanese, and Taiwanese managers. The findings from these cultures are compared to a previous study of managers in the United States. This study demonstrates the utility of examining the factor structure of survey instruments rather than relying only on scale reliability scores in cross-cultural research. Managers' Pursuit of Individual and Organizational Goals
This paper examines circumstances under which managers exercise upward influence in order to achieve individual and organizational goals. One hundred and thirteen managers completed a questionnaire describing the frequency with which they influenced their superiors for individual and organizational reasons. Client-Oriented Evaluation of Public Agency Effectiveness
A methodology is presented for measuring public agency effectiveness from the client's perspective. An assessment of the administrative process for implementing public policy in addition to service outcomes was obtained through a low-cost procedure. An Application of a "Political Economy" Approach To Effectiveness
A "political economy effectiveness" model for analyzing the relationships between public agencies and their clients is developed. This model traces the effects of environmental exchange relationships on the goals guiding the behavior of public agency personnel who are responsible for implementing public policy.
