Cooking readiness in stressful times: Navigating food choices for a healthier future
A critical perspective on the administrative approach to crime prevention: The case of labour trafficking
Building on empirical data from Finnish enforcement agencies, we reflect on the challenges of the administrative approach to crime prevention. At the operational level, we identify explicit legal and implicit extra-legal limitations for using the administrative approach, that we call (1) ‘tunnel view’, (2) ‘structural siloes’, (3) ‘double role’, and (4) ‘blurred lines’. At the conceptual level, we consider the challenges of using the administrati…
Consumer-related antecedents of food provisioning behaviors that promote food waste
Household food waste has serious negative consequences for the environment and the society. Food waste results from food provisioning behaviors, however, there is little evidence regarding consumer-related factors that drive such behaviors. The aim was to investigate the antecedents of key food provisioning behaviors related to food waste and of motivation to reduce food waste. A cross-sectional online survey (N = 508) conducted in Denmark showed…
Beyond the exceptional: Tracing the repercussions of a security speech act
Since the 1980s, debates on security have expanded and security has become a catchphrase in virtually every area of life. In Finland, the government elected in 2003 began its four-year period in power by launching a special Internal Security Programme (ISP) that stressed the threat of social exclusion. Altogether four ISPs have been launched in Finland since2004. They all repeat the menace of social exclusion. In this article, we examine how thes…
Determinants of intention to reduce salt intake and willingness to purchase salt-reduced food products: Evidence from a web survey
To study consumers' intention to reduce their dietary salt intake and willingness to purchase salt-reduced food products, as well as the determinants of these, this research relies on data collected through a web survey of 1030 participants in Denmark. The majority of respondents (66.8%) express no intentions to change their dietary salt intake, but 12.6% indicate such intentions, and 20.6% claim to have already implemented a change. Willingness …
How attitude towards food fortification can lead to purchase intention
This research examines how consumers' general attitude towards food fortification can lead to their intention to purchase vitamin D fortified food. Specifically, it is argued that this effect can be mediated by the perceived personal benefit of consuming vitamin D fortified food; and that the indirect effect is moderated by problem awareness and the perceived appropriateness of vitamin D fortification in a given food product category. Perceived p…

Repositioning the corporate criminal: Comparing and contrasting corporate criminal liability in Canada and Finland
Over the past two decades, a number of states in the Global North have introduced laws aimed at holding corporations criminally liable. While there is an important literature examining these legal regimes there is a paucity of comparative work interrogating the different political struggles and processes leading to corporate criminal liability (CCL) legislation. This paper addresses this lacuna by comparing and contrasting the development of CCL …

Attitudes towards sweetness as predictors of liking and use of various sweet foods
Five multi‐item verbal scales were developed to measure attitudes toward sweetness, and capacity of the scales to explain the liking and use of selected sweet foods was tested. The scales of attitudes towards sweetness were labeled as "social," "reward," "guilt," "health" and "restriction." The majority of the respondents were middle‐class women (N = 136) taking part in a product test evaluating two strawberry‐flavored yogurts. The liking and fre…
