  • A three‐goal model for patients with multimorbidity

    Open Access•Neeltje P Vermunt, Mirjam Harmsen et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2018

BACKGROUND: To meet the challenge of multimorbidity in decision making, a switch from a disease-oriented to a goal-oriented approach could be beneficial for patients and clinicians. More insight about the concept and the implementation of this approach in clinical practice is needed. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop conceptual descriptions of goal-oriented care by examining the perspectives of general practitioners (GPs) and clinical geriat…

  • Using Patient Reported Outcomes Measures to Promote Integrated Care

    Open Access•Marcel G M Olde Rikkert, Philip J van der Wees et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018•Cited by: 2•References: 1

PROMs can deliver generic outcomes relevant for older patients, may improve patient-physician relationship, quality of care and prediction of future outcomes in geriatric care, if they are valid, reliable and responsive, but still short and simple. A precondition to make the hard tip from research to practice is that PROMs are carefully positioned in the clinical encounters and in electronic health records

  • Evaluation of an adverse outcome index for the quality of obstetric care delivered by multidisciplinary care chains

Open Access•Paulien Brunings, Lissy van de Laar et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2013

The International Journal of Integrated Care (IJIC) is an online, open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original articles in the field of integrated care on a continuous basis.IJIC has an Impact Factor of 5.120 (2020 JCR, received in June 2021)

  • Measuring chronic care management experience of patients with diabetes

    Open Access•Hanneke W Drewes, Janneke Van Til-de Jong et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2012•Cited by: 4•References: 1

The PACIC and PACIC+ are reliable instruments to measure the chronic care management experiences of patients. The PACIC+ is preferred because it also includes multidisciplinary coordination and cooperation-one of the central pillars of chronic care management-with good psychometric quality. Previously identified subscales should be used with caution. Both PACIC instruments are useful in identifying GP practice variation

  • The influence of population characteristics on variation in general practice based morbidity estimations

Open Access•Catharina van den Dungen, N Hoeymans et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2011

Socio-demographic characteristics of populations do not explain the differences in morbidity estimations among GPRNs

  • The association between chronic care management and the quality of thrombosis care

    Open Access•Hanneke W Drewes, CAROLINE A BAAN et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2010

  • Hospital Stroke Volume and Case-Fatality Revisited

    Uzor C Ogbu, Laurentius C J Slobbe et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2010•References: 31

BACKGROUND: A few studies have found an inverse association between hospital patient volume and case-fatality among stroke patients. However, the different stroke categorizations used in these studies might have influenced the findings. Furthermore, the relevance of the association observed remains questionable given that the relatively small magnitude may not support volume-based referral policies. We re-examined this association in a large nati…

  • Do guidelines create uniformity in medical practice

  • Health system outcomes and determinants amenable to public health in industrialized countries

    Open Access•Onyebuchi A Arah, Gert P Westert et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2005

Mortality and premature deaths could be improved by focusing on factors that are amenable to public health policies. Tackling these issues should be reflected in the ongoing assessments of health system performance

  • The health status of the Dutch population as assessed by the EQ-6D

Open Access•N Hoeymans, H Van Lindert et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2005

  • Medical practice variations in hospital care; time trends of a spatial phenomenon

  • Community income and surgical rates in the Netherlands

    Gert P Westert, J P J M Smits et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2003•References: 10

Background: The study describes variations in use of surgical procedures by community income in the Netherlands. From the literature it is known that surgical rates have a socioeconomic gradient. Both positive and negative associations of socioeconomic factors of patients (for example, income, education) with surgical rates have been reported. The question raised here is: how do (possible) socioeconomic variations in surgery in the Netherlands co…

  • Mutual influences of general practitioners in partnerships

    Open Access•Judith D De Jong, Peter P Groenewegen et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•2003•Cited by: 3•References: 17

The aim of this study was to find out whether or not general practitioners (GPs) within the same partnership show more similarities in attitudes and behaviour than GPs in different partnerships, and what the causes of these similarities might be. Knowledge of the causes of patterns of similarities within medical teams contributes to understanding medical practice variation, which is crucial in developing effective health care policies. Data were …
