Third place visiting among mid-to-older adults: A cross-classified multilevel analysis
Commonly cited approaches to reducing health inequalities: A call for more clarity around their definition and underlying assumptions
Addressing health inequalities is an international priority. Various approaches have gained popularity in the academic literature and policy-making documents. However, there has been a lack of progress in tackling health inequalities. We outline the main characteristics and principles of five commonly cited approaches: asset-based, place-based, upstream, systems-based and proportionate universalism. Healthy ageing in place: Perspectives on age-friendliness in ‘local’ communities
Age-friendly communities are designed to support older adults in staying healthy, active, and engaged in society as they age. However, poor health significantly impedes walking in this demographic, emphasising the need for interventions that offer both physical assistanc…
Challenges, opportunities and solutions for local physical activity stakeholders: An implementation case study from a cross-sectoral physical activity network in Northeast England
Our findings suggest that academics, practitioners and policy-makers understand the complexities of implementing PA strategies, and the challenges of knowledge exchange. The updated UK PA guidelines policy presented an opportunity for multiple agencies to consider context-specific implementation and address enduring tensions between stakeholders. An organically derived implementation plan that prioritises PA, maps links to relevant local policies…
