Reports of stress and mental health problems among higher education students have increased over the past decade, highlighting the need to understand contributing factors. Research on mental health challenges among teacher education students is limited. The aim of the study was to examine associations between academic stressors, concern over mistakes, response outcome expectancies, physical activity, and reports of anxiety, depression, and fatigu…
Physical exercise and loneliness in higher education
Physical activity has been associated with lower levels of loneliness. However, limited research has explored whether exercise frequency, intensity, and duration are associated with loneliness. The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between exercise frequency, intensity, and duration, and loneliness among Norwegian college and university students. Data from the National Student Health and Well-being Survey in Norway (SHoT 2022)…

However, there have been few studies on how children experience such lessons. Aim: This study investigates Norwegian primary school children's subjective experienc…
The relationship between online communication and mental health and cardiorespiratory fitness from ages 15 to 17
This study underscores the potential negative effects of online communication on mental and physical health among adolescents, regardless of sex or SES. The findings highlight the importance of balancing time spent online communicating with physical activity to support overall adolescent well-being. These insights could inform public health initiatives and preventive strategies to foster healthier digital habits in an increasingly online world, e…
Physical exercise, mental health problems, and suicide attempts in university students
Physical exercise and body-mass index in young adults
Our findings show that the large majority of young adults fail to meet international recommendations on exercise, and that the proportion of overweight is increasing in both genders and across all age groups. We conclude that there is an urgent need for a broad approach to achieve a paradigm shift in supporting our college and university students to become more active

Multiple transitions in sick leave, disability benefits, and return to work. - A 4-year follow-up of patients participating in a work-related rehabilitation program
The process of RTW or of receiving disability pension was complex, and may take several years, with multiple transitions between work and different benefits. Access to reliable register data and the use of a multistate RTW model, makes it possible to describe the developmental nature and the different levels of the recovery and disability process
The Relationship of Narcissism with Workaholism, Work Engagement, and Professional Position
We examined scores on the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI; Raskin & Terry, 1988) in relation to drive to work, enjoyment of and engagement in work, and professional position. A sample of 235 Norwegian bank employees completed a cross-sectional survey. We found that managers scored higher than subordinates on all measures. NPI scores correlated significantly and positively with drive, enjoyment of and engagement in work. Multiple regressio…

The increasingly high number of immigrants from South-East Asia with The Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is an important challenge for the public health sector. Impaired glucose is essential in MetS. The blood glucose concentration is not only governed by diet and physical activity, but also by psychological distress which could contribute to the development of MetS. The aim of this study is to describe health-related quality of life, subjective health…
Risk Factors for Type 2 Diabetes Among Female Pakistani Immigrants
Long-term follow-up of disability pensioners having musculoskeletal disorders
The number of pensioners who returned to work was negligible in all groups regardless of having participated in a cognitive behavioural intervention or not
Effect of a Brief Cognitive Training Programme in Patients with Long-lasting Back Pain Evaluated as Unfit for Surgery
The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of cognitive intervention (information and physical exercise), on patients with long-lasting back pain referred for surgical evaluation at an orthopaedic hospital, but evaluated as unfit for surgery. One hundred and fifty-two patients were randomized to a five days intervention or control. The intervention had no significant effects on pain.
