Linking restorative human health outcomes to protected area ecosystem diversity and integrity
Human health and well-being benefits have increasingly been associated with contact with nature. However, limited research has focused on the influence of ecosystem type and quality on these outcomes. This paper reports on the results of an in-situ survey of 467 visitors to an Ontario protected area. Results revealed high overall restorative outcomes across all ecosystem types, with greater benefits reported for women than men. Perceived ecosyste…
Tracking destination image across the trip experience with smartphone technology
Tracking human activity and well-being in natural environments using wearable sensors and experience sampling
The validity of using activity type to structure tour-based scheduling models
Discretionary activity location choice
A multi-instrumented approach to observing the activity rescheduling decision process
Digital Sketch-Map Drawing as an Instrument to Collect Data about Spatial Cognition
The formative years of cognitive mapping research focused on theoretical understanding, with less emphasis on developing innovative methodologies to extract cognitive maps. By the 1990s, new cross-disciplinary exchanges with computer science and information technology had renewed interest in the field. This article describes a method for collecting, mapping, and exploring the sequence of sketch-map creation, including integration of the resulting…
