  • College Students' Motives for In-Person Meetings with Dating Application Matches

    Open Access•Meredith G Harrison, Richard D Mcanulty et al.•ARTICLE•Cyberpsychology Behavior and…•2022

Although some research has explored emerging adults' motives for using mobile dating applications, no studies have investigated motives for in-person (or offline) meetings with dating app matches. A sample of 267 U.S. college students completed an online survey, 138 of whom were dating app users and 80 of those had met at least one match in person. • Relationship between MMPI and penile plethysmograph in accused child molesters

Richard D Mcanulty, Henry E Adams et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•1994•References: 1

We investigated the relationship between the MMPI and penile plethysmograph in a sample of 90 alleged child molesters. Men who had been accused of molesting a prepubertal child were divided into two groups on the basis of penile plethysmograph results (Deviant and Non‐Deviant Profiles). The MMPI scales were used to predict group membership using discriminant function analysis. The results revealed that the MMPI scores were statistically related t…

    Open Access•Richard D Mcanulty, Roland Füss et al.•ARTICLE•Archives of Sexual Behavior•1993•References: 43

Concurrent with the rapid rise in allegations of child sexual abuse, psychologists are increasingly assuming the role of experts for the courts. In this position, a new and more controversial role is often assumed by the expert, that of psychological investigator. A review of the common legal contexts for such a role as well as the theoretical and empirical basis for the investigatory role is presented. Ethical issues are also considered. A liter…

  • Voluntary control of penile tumescence

    Richard D Mcanulty, Henry E Adams•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•1991•Cited by: 3•References: 5

Penile plethysmography is considered a promising procedure for the assessment of sexual arousal and orientation. However, the discovery that some individuals are capable of invalidating the results of the test has raised concerns about its limitations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a signal detection task in eliminating faking. Additionally, the effect of an incentive on the ability to fake on penile plethysmog…

  • An a Posteriori Investigation of Standard MMPI Validity Scales

    Open Access•David P McAnulty, Neil B Rappaport et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1985

This study investigated the standard MMPI validity scales alone and in combination, i.e., F—K, L+K, in discriminating subjects who deny faking good from those who report faking good. The design of the study was unique in that determination of faking was made after the test was administered. The validity scales and the F—K index in particular do not differentiate effectively between subjects who dissimulate and others. These results are interprete…
