Background: The increased mental distress among healthcare workers (HCW) during the COVID-19 pandemic has been well documented. Frontline research has rarely focused on fathers among HCW. Those with informal caregiving responsibilities (ICs) may be especially vulnerable, but data remain limited. Psychological distress was assessed using…

    Open Access•Anna C Culmann, Andreas M Baranowski et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

Isabel Jaramillo, Luisa Bergunde et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2024

Mode of birth has been linked to offspring health. Changes in DNA methylation (DNAm) may represent a potential mechanism; however, findings are heterogeneous and limited to early infancy. This preregistered study examined whether mode of birth (vaginal birth compared with elective or emergency cesarean section) affects DNAm at birth, in childhood, and adolescence and whether these effects are modified by the postnatal care environment, specifical…

  • Mental health of working parents during the Covid-19 pandemic: Can resilience buffer the impact of psychosocial work stress on depressive symptoms

Open Access•Stephanie Brym, Judith Mack et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

The results highlight the need for measures to reduce psychosocial work stressors such as WPC and ERI during the COVID-19 pandemic on the one hand and to promote resilience on the other hand. The findings partially support the potential protective role of resilience buffering the association between psychosocial stress and mental health in working parents. Longitudinal studies are needed to confirm this effect

Methods: This research i…
