  • The Keystone of the Cathedral of Tortosa: The Coronation of the Virgin

    Open Access•Cinta Lluis-Teruel, Josep Lluis I Ginovart et al.•ARTICLE•Religions•2026•References: 6

This study examines the influence of the bishop’s and canons’ knowledge on the design of the presbytery’s keystones in Tortosa Cathedral, which has been governed by the Beati Augustini rule since 1155. The iconography representing the Coronation of the Virgin (1439) constitutes a recurring theme in medieval architecture and is closely linked to references found in manuscript illumination starting from the late 12th century. The presence of thirty…

  • The Apse of the Gothic Cathedral of Tortosa versus Augustine of Hippo's Civitate Dei

    Open Access•Cinta Lluis-Teruel, Josep Lluis I Ginovart et al.•ARTICLE•Religions•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 12

This research delves into the influence of St. Augustine on the construction of the Gothic cathedral of Tortosa. The canonical cathedral of Tortosa underwent re-establishment in 1155, which was carried out by Bishop Godfrey who was the abbot of Saint Rufus of Avignon and was governed by Beati Augustini rule. The presence of St. Augustine in the Capitular archives with De Civitate Dei (ACTo-20) from the XII century is examined. This, coupled with …

    Open Access•Josep Lluis I Ginovart, Cinta Lluis-Teruel•ARTICLE•Asclepio•2022

• Orientation of the Romanesque churches in the region of Val d’Aran, Spain (11th–13th centuries)

    Open Access•Josep Lluis I Ginovart, M López‐Piquer et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2019•References: 15

This study examines an ensemble of Romanesque churches in the region of Val d’Aran in the Spanish Pyrenees, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. Seven topographical studies performed between 2014 and 2015 examined these churches systematically using terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) as a data‐acquisition technique. The data obtained allowed for a geometrically accurate analysis of the orientation of these churches based on four Romanesque li…

    Open Access•Josep Lluis I Ginovart•ARTICLE•Hispania Sacra•2014•References: 4
