  • New Early Bronze Age Metal Finds from Western Poland

Open Access•Justyna Baron, Kamila Nowak et al.•ARTICLE•Praehistorische Zeitschrift•2026

In recent years, a significant number of hoards of metal objects and individual finds have been uncovered and dated to the early phases of the Bronze Age. According to Reinecke’s classification, these artifacts belong to phases A1–B1 (2300–1600 BCE). Although the discovery sites of some individual objects raise questions about their exact context, the available data regarding their locations clearly suggest that these sites were selected with spe…

  • Oxigén- és stronciumizotóp-vizsgálatok együttes alkalmazásának bemutatása magyarországi példákon keresztül

Csaba Farkas, Ariana Gugora et al.•ARTICLE•Archeometriai Műhely•2026

A hagyományos régészeti vizsgálatokat kiegészítendő egyre nagyobb teret nyernek a különböző izotópgeokémiai módszerek, melyek segítségével széles spektrumú betekintést nyerhetünk a múltbeli közösségek életébe.

  • The population history of Central Europe in the Early Bronze Age (2200/2100–1600/1500 BC) - a craniometric approach

Open Access•Tamás Szeniczey, Eszter Melis et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2025•References: 7

During the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, migrations and the advent of working bronze alloy materials triggered profound cultural, social, and economic shifts across Central Europe. As a result of this processes, many communities with distinct archaeological and cultural characteristics emerged during the Central European Early Bronze Age (between circa 2200/2100 and 1600/1500 BC) in Central Europe, and with the Middle Bronze Age of the Car…

  • Soil weathering and human activities dominate trace elements in a stalagmite from Shandong Peninsula in coastal North China during the last millennium

Open Access•Yuefeng Liu, Ke Cheng et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2025

  • Halberds of power

Open Access•Justyna Baron, Kamila Nowak et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•2025

Analysis of use-wear and chemical composition of five early Bronze Age halberds from Muszkowo reveals that they were crafted over several casting events and meticulously finished, then subjected to use before their final deposition

  • New radiocarbon dates from the Bronze Age Tiszafüred-Majoroshalom site (Eastern Hungary)

Open Access•János Dani, Anikó Horváth et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2024

In this paper we present new AMS radiocarbon dates from the Bronze Age cemetery of Tiszafüred-Majoroshalom excavated between 1961 and 1972. The cemetery provides crucial information on the cultural development and chronology of the Bronze Age Otomani-Füzesabony and the Tumulus cultures of Eastern Central Europe, in addition to the transition between the Middle and Late Bronze Age (approx. 1500 BC) in the Great Hungarian Plain

  • Comparison of rapid preparation methods for Pb isotope analysis of high‐Pb ceramic glazes

Open Access•Anikó Horváth, Bernadett Bajnóczi et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2023•References: 35

This study identified the provenance of Pb flux used in the production of the glaze of unique, high‐quality late medieval stove tiles from the northern part of the Carpathian Basin, and elaborated and evaluated a fast preparation process to measure Pb isotope ratios in high‐Pb glazes. We compared three different methods of preparation. Method 1 consisted of the dissolution of bulk chips of glaze, dilution of the solution and mass spectrometric an…

  • Detection of diagenetic alteration in bones and teeth for migration and dietary studies - a combined FTIR and C-N-O-Sr isotope study on tenth century CE cemeteries in northern and northeastern Hungary

    Open Access•Ariana Gugora, Attila Demény et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2022•Cited by: 2•References: 52

Stable isotope-based dietary information on the tenth century CE Hungarian population serves as a valuable comparative tool to other dietary stable isotope studies in the region. This study presents a multiproxy approach involving skeletal samples with the least diagenetic alteration and the best-preserved primary signals. Dental and bone samples collected from three cemeteries in northeastern Hungary were investigated using a combination of Four…

  • Klímaváltozáshoz kapcsolódó természeti kockázatok helyi léptékű elemzése és a társadalmi felkészültség vizsgálata Közép- és Délkelet-Európában – Egy transznacionális projekt eredményei

Open Access•Zsuzsa Földi, Annamária Uzzoli et al.•ARTICLE•Tér és Társadalom•2014

Az elmúlt években felértékelődött a globális klímaváltozás regionális hatásainak kutatása, s ezzel párhuzamosan az időjárási szélsőségek okozta természeti veszélyhelyzetek társadalmi következményeinek minél pontosabb feltérképezése. Helyi szinten a természeti kockázatokkal összefüggésben a társadalom növekvő sérülékenysége jelent kihívásokat, így egyre nagyobb az igény a társadalom és a gazdaság részéről a felkészüléssel és megelőzéssel kapcsolat…
