  • An Iron Age burial with weapons, on a site with evidence of medieval and post-medieval occupation from Dunbar, East Lothian

Open Access•Mike Roy, Fraser Hunter et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Society of…•2016•Cited by: 1

In September and October 2005, an archaeological excavation was undertaken on the site of the former Empire Cinema on Dunbar High Street. In addition to late medieval and post-medieval remains, a cist grave of pre-Roman or Roman Iron Age date was excavated and recorded. Two adult males occupied the cist grave, one of whom was equipped with a sword and a spear, representing a rare example of an Iron Age burial with weapons in Scotland. Partial ske…

  • Ancestry-constrained phylogenetic analysis supports the Indo-European steppe hypothesis

    Will Chang, W S C Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Language•2015

The supplementary materials contain details of our BEAST analyses.Note that in addition to the four blocks of analyses (A-D) mentioned in Experiments ( §6), there is a fifth block of eight analyses (E1-8) in which each ancestral language in A1, in turn, has its ancestry constraint removed

  • Ancestry-constrained phylogenetic analysis supports the Indo-European steppe hypothesis

    Open Access•Will Chang, W S C Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Language•2015•Cited by: 18•References: 14

Discussion of Indo-European origins and dispersal focuses on two hypotheses. Qualitative evidence from reconstructed vocabulary and correlations with archaeological data suggest that Indo-European languages originated in the Pontic-Caspian steppe and spread together with cultural innovations associated with pastoralism, beginning c. 6500-5500 bp. An alternative hypothesis, according to which Indo-European languages spread with the diffusion of fa…

  • Abstinence-Only Education and Teen Pregnancy Rates

    Open Access•Kathrin F Stanger‐hall, Kathrin F Stanger-Hall et al.•ARTICLE•PLoS ONE•2011

The United States ranks first among developed nations in rates of both teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. In an effort to reduce these rates, the U.S. government has funded abstinence-only sex education programs for more than a decade. However, a public controversy remains over whether this investment has been successful and whether these programs should be continued. Using the most recent national data (2005) from all U.S. stat…

  • Grace and Christology in the Early Church – By Donald Fairbairn

    Open Access•David W Hall, David Hall•ARTICLE•Religious Studies Review•2006

  • Factors to Consider in Research on Prevention of Relapse in Cigarette Smoking

    Open Access•David W Hall•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1987

The current state of research on prevention of relapse in cigarette smoking is reviewed and a number of factors relevant to research on such prevention discussed. Issues related to timing of the program, criterion for inclusion in the program, individual vs group treatment, and control of the influences of smoking by significant others are discussed

  • Aid and the Environment

    David W Hall, Michael F Carter et al.•ARTICLE•Geographical Journal•1987
