The Ancient Legend about Surt and the Novel Concept of Methane Venting Tectonics (MTV)
We merge the concept of methane venting tectonics and the old legend about Surt, the giant of fire, living in the underground and having a burning sword. Due to the tumbling and collisions between blocks thrown up in the air by the explosive methane venting forces, ignition is likely to have set the methane on fire; i.e. huge burning columns of tens to hundreds of metres height. Such events occurred in east-central Sweden at about 3000 BP. The Br…
Ales Stones in Southern Sweden
Ales Stones is a famous stone ship in southern Sweden. Besides its size (69 m) and location right beside the shore of the Baltic, it is a remarkable monument of the Sun Cult and very advanced knowledge of astronomy by the Bronze Age people. This paper summarizes the findings, and puts it into the context of other monuments in southern Sweden. Also presented are a new time-correction of the sunrise at Winter solstice 700 BC and a remarkable sun-wh…
A Golden Calendar from the Bronze Age
A golden object found in southern Sweden 170 years ago is found, in fact, to be an ancient calendar. The golden object is ornamented with 12 sun-symbols and 12 moon-symbols; i.e. a combined picture of the annual movements of the Sun and the Moon through the sky. It is divided into 6 wedges by spoke structures. This is a representation of the Sumerian sexagesimal system. Similar images are present in rock-carvings in Sweden, and on a stone tablet …
The Reef Woman of the Maldives
A human skeleton was found embedded in beachrock in the Maldives. It was identified as the remains of a woman, died, killed or washed ashore at a former shore at about AD 1150. The shore was at the same elevation as today’s shore. Sea rose to about +60 cm, covering the skeleton with coral rubble. Sea fell again to its present position, cementing the shore deposits into beachrock including the skeleton. In sub-recent time, the beachrock was trimme…
Long-Distance Travel and Trading in the Bronze Age
Bronze was imported to Scandinavia from the East Mediterranean. This trading started about 1750 BC. At just the same time amber from the Baltic started to appear in Mycenaean and Minoan graves. This gives evidence of active trading between the Mediterranean and Scandinavia. The sudden appearance of picture of large ships cut into bedrock surfaces and blocks at about the same time suggests that this trading took place via visitors arriving by ship…
The Flooding of Ur in Mesopotamia in New Perspectives
At around 5000 years BP sea level peaked in the Persian Gulf region at a level of +0.3 m as now determined in Qatar. This coincides with the famous flooding of the ancient city of Ur, originally interpreted as due to local changes in the fluvial system. We can now propose that, in fact, it was the sea level rise that triggered the fluvial reorganization and rise in ground water level that ultimately led to “the flooding of Ur”

Aristotle’s presented the first global model; his model of the planetary system. It was totally wrong.Still, it ruled the world for 1800 years until Copernicus presented an observationally based solution. Toleave observational reality behind and to hang on to models and model predictions seem utterlydangerous and basically unscientific. Still, we are today victims of many ruling models.

The Gothenburg Magnetic Excursion
The Gothenburg Magnetic Excursion in a broad sense ranges from 13,750 to 12,350 years BP and ends with the Gothenburg Magnetic Flip at 12,400−12,350 years BP (= the Fjärås Stadial in southern Scandinavia) with an equatorial VGP position in the central Pacific. The Gothenburg Magnetic Flip is recorded in five closely dated and mutually correlated cores in Sweden. In all five cores, the inclination is completely reversed in the layer representing t…

When Will the Present Interglacial End?
We are now living under interglacial climatic conditions, the Present Interglacial or Flandrian Interglacial Age. It will certainly be followed by the Future Ice Age. The major cold/warm changes seem to have a cyclicity of 10,500 yr. We have been in the second cycle (characterized by cooler climate) after the Last Ice Age for 2200 yr and will continue to be so for another 8300 yr. By analogy with the conditions during the Last Interglacial it is …
