    The visitor to Uganda Protectorate, arriving either by rail or by air, is immediately impressed by characteristic scenery of flat-topped or, less commonly, rounded hills rising very nearly to same height and separated by gentle slopes with valleys containing broad papyrus swamps. This scenery is typical of much of Buganda and particularly of lacustrine belt around north-west shores of Lake Victoria. Roccati1 early commented on these features and …
