  • A Study on Some Behavioural Traits among Kaibartas of Assam, India

Open Access•Bandana Das Devi, Ananda Chandra Nath•ARTICLE•The Anthropologist•1999

The behavioural traits – hand clasping, arm folding, tongue rolling, leg folding and dominant eye among the Kaibartas of Assam, India have been studied. The frequency of R-type of +ve type of the five traits was a little higher among females than the males but in no case was sexual dimorphism statistically significant. Inter groups variability have also been made and Kaibartas show more closeness to groups with Caucasoid affinities than those wit…

  • A Comparative Study of Muslim Foot of Lower Assam, India

    Open Access•Ananda Chandra Nath•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1999•References: 2

An attempt has been made to show the variation of Muslim foot qualitatively and quantitatively as compared with other population groups of Assam Types of foot, anthropometric characters and interspaces have been considered for this purpose. Co-efficient of divergence has also been calculated to find out the biological distances among groups of Caucasoid and Mongoloid affinities

  • A Study of Hair Whorl on Occiput of Bodo Kachari of Kokrajhar in Assam, India

Open Access•Ananda Chandra Nath, Bandana Das Devi•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1999

The head hair whorls among the Bodo Kacharis of Kachari district in Assam has been studied. The rebuilt show that the clockwise whorl dominate over anticlockwise whorl and single whorl is more common as compared to double whorl in both males and females. A comparison is made with tribes and castes of North East India and Bodo Kachari show intermediate position among groups with Mongoloid and Caucasoid affinities

  • A Study on Occipital Hair Whorl of Kaibartas of Assam

Open Access•Ananda Chandra Nath, Bandana Das Devi•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1998

An attempt has been made to study the whorl on head hair of the Kaibartas of Assam. A comparison is made with other castes and tribes of North East India and Kaibartas are showing intermediate position among Caucasoid and Mongoloid groups

  • A Note on Ear Lobe Attachment Among The Kaibartas of Assam, India

Open Access•Ananda Chandra Nath, Bandana Devi Das•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1995

Among Kaibartas of Assam, frequency of ear lobe attachment is observed 51.47 per cent among males and 42.95 per cent in females. They are showing intermediate position between population with Caucasoid affinities (low frequency of attached ear lobe) and Mongoloid affinities (high frequency of attached ear lobe type)
