  • Exploring the effects of combined Nordic and reverse Nordic hamstring exercises on physical fitness in prepubertal male soccer players

Open Access•Senda Sammoud, Yassine Negra et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2026

The findings showed moderate group-by-time interactions for all fitness measures [effect size (d) = 0.62-1.16]. Post hoc analyses revealed small-to-moderate improvements in the eccentric training group across all performance measures (d = 0.31-1.18), while no significant changes were observed in the control group for any fitness measure. In conclusion, our findings support the effectiveness, practicality, and safety (no injuries reported) of the …

  • The effects of backward vs. forward running training on measures of physical fitness in young female handball players

Open Access•Senda Sammoud, Raja Bouguezzi et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2023

Within-group analysis indicated significant, small-to-large improvements in all performance tests (effect size [ g ] = 0.36 to 1.80), except 5-m forward sprint-time in the BR group and 5- and 10-m forward sprint-time in the FR group. However, the CG significantly decreased forward sprint performance over 10-m and 20-m ( g = 0.28 to 0.50) with no changes in the other fitness parameters. No significant differences in the amount of change scores bet…

  • Validity of a new sport-specific endurance test in artistic gymnastics

Open Access•Bessem Mkaouer, Samiha Amara et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 26

IntroductionGeneral and particularly sport-specific testing is an integral aspect of performance optimization in artistic gymnastics. In artistic gymnastics, however, only non-specific field tests have been used to assess endurance performance (e.g., Multistage Shuttle Run Test; Cooper's Test).MethodsThis study aimed to examine the validity of a new sport-specific endurance test in artistic gymnastics. Fourteen elite-level gymnasts (i.e., eight m…
