  • Regular physical activity and its components as predictors of depressive symptoms in young Brazilians after mandatory military service: A prospective cohort study

    Open Access•Naiane Silva Morais, Rizia Rocha-Silva et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica•2025•References: 1

Promoting structured physical activity, especially sports, may be an effective strategy to reduce depressive symptoms among young adults after mandatory military service. • A Single Session of Beach Tennis with Recreational Athletes Improves Anxiety Symptoms in Women but Not in Men: A Randomized Trial

Open Access•João Victor Rosa de Freitas, Bráulio Evangelista de Lima et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2024

Beach tennis demonstrated an anxiolytic effect in women, with significant reductions in anxiety symptoms following both singles and doubles sessions. However, no such effects were observed in men. These findings suggest that beach tennis could be a viable intervention for managing anxiety symptoms in women. The study was registered in the Brazilian Clinical Trials Registry (registration code: U1111-1293-7949)

Open Access•Flávio Rodrigues Duarte, Lucas Lima Galvão et al.•ARTICLE•Cadernos de Saude Publica•2024•References: 45

This study aimed to test hypothesized effects of replacing sedentary behavior with moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, sleep, and different domains of physical activity by equivalent amounts on suggestive cognitive decline in an older adult population. This was a cross-sectional study including 473 older adults aged ≥ 60 years. Cognitive decline was assessed using the Mini-Mental Health Examination. Physical activity, its different domains an…

  • Physical activity combined with sedentary behaviour in the risk of mortality in older adults

Open Access•Lucas Lima Galvão, Rizia Rocha-Silva et al.•ARTICLE•Revista de Saúde Pública•2021

METHODS Prospective, population-based cohort study. The data were collected from first wave in 2015 and the follow-up continued until 2020. The sample consisted of 332 older adult people aged ≥ 60 years-old, out of which 59 died. The level of PA and SB was assessed by the International Phys…

  • Effects of Reallocating Time Spent Engaging in Sedentary Behavior and Physical Activity on Mortality in Older Adults: Elsia Study

Open Access•Lucas Lima Galvão, Rizia Rocha-Silva et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021
