New and old approaches to understand lithic raw materials: The case of Galería de las Estatuas site (Sierra de Atapuerca, Spain)
Nueva ara dedicada a Larrahe hallada en Arriaundi (Larunbe, Navarra)
In this paper we present a Roman altar found in Arriundi (Larunbe, Navarra), dedicated to the Vasconic god Larra/Larrahe
Landforms of the lower Hushe Valley (Central Karakoram, Pakistan)
This paper presents a new geomorphological map for the lower Hushe Valley (below 3400 m asl), located to the SE of the Central Karakoram in Baltistan (North Pakistan). Fieldwork and remote sensing were combined to improve understanding of the most recent surface landforms to produce a 1:50,000 scale map. Thirteen landform types associated with glacial, fluvial, gravitational and mass wasting processes were identified and mapped. Particular emphas…

New bracketing luminescence ages constrain the Sima de los Huesos hominin fossils (Atapuerca, Spain) to MIS 12
Geological risk assessment for rock art protection in karstic caves (Alkerdi Caves, Navarre, Spain)
Evidence of paleoecological changes and Mousterian occupations at the Galería de las Estatuas site, Sierra de Atapuerca, northern Iberian plateau, Spain
Here we present a new site in the Sierra de Atapuerca (Burgos, Spain): Galería de las Estatuas (GE), which provides new information about Mousterian occupations in the Iberian Plateau. The GE was an ancient entrance to the cave system, which is currently closed and sealed by a stalagmitic crust, below which a detritic sedimentary sequence of more than 2 m is found. This has been divided into five litostratigraphic units with a rich assemblage of …
Magnetometer Survey at the Newly‐discovered Roman City of Auritz/Burguete (Navarre). Results and Preliminary Archaeological Interpretation
This paper summarizes the principal geophysical results obtained at a recently discovered Roman city at Navarre. Prior to the survey, the extent of the affected areas and the characteristics of the settlement were unknown. The authors describe the field strategy applied and focus their discussion on the archaeological interpretation of the fluxgate gradiometer data. The results allowed for a detailed description of the layout in the main area rev…
Postcranial morphology of the middle Pleistocene humans from Sima de los Huesos, Spain
Significance The middle Pleistocene Sima de los Huesos (SH) fossil collection provides the rare opportunity to thoroughly characterize the postcranial skeleton in a fossil population, comparable only to that obtained in the study of the Neandertal hypodigm and recent (and fossil) modern humans. The SH paleodeme can be characterized as relatively tall, wide, and muscular individuals, who are less encephalized than both Neandertals and modern human…
Provenance study of endokarst fine sediments through mineralogical and geochemical data (Lezetxiki II cave, northern Iberia)
Karst landscape evolution in the littoral area of the Bay of Biscay (north Iberian Peninsula)
An automated method to extract fluvial terraces from Lidar based high resolution Digital Elevation Models: The Oiartzun valley, a case study in the Cantabrian Margin
The stratigraphy of the Sima de los Huesos (Atapuerca, Spain) and implications for the origin of the fossil hominin accumulation
Luminescence dating and palaeomagnetic age constraint on hominins from Sima de los Huesos, Atapuerca, Spain
Quantitative indexes based on geomorphologic features: A tool for evaluating human impact on natural and cultural heritage in caves
