Elizabeth M Inman, Campion Zharima et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2025

HIV transmission among adolescents remains a pressing public health challenge in South Africa. Onward HIV disclosure to sexual partners can reduce transmission, but disclosure is low among adolescents. Adherence to hegemonic masculine norms may create a barrier to disclosure among boys. Repeated measures designs are necessary to more accurately capture disclosure, which is an ongoing behavior shaped by multiple processes. 251 South African adoles…

Biological father absence affects children’s well-being and development, with effects that can persist into adulthood due to associated factors such as economic hardship and psychological distress. Institutions of higher education have faced increasing pressure to comply with federal regulations and reform their response to campus sexual assault. Open Access•Amy C Hammock, Alexander Jack McKillop et al.•ARTICLE•Family Relations•2022

  • Domestic violence calls for police service in five US cities during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020

Open Access•Tesleem Kayode Babalola, Tesleem Babalola et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

Results suggest that the stay-at-home orders may have contributed to an increase in DV calls in some cities (Phoenix, and to a smaller extent LA, NYC), but the increase seen in Chicago (and to some extent Phoenix) persisted beyond the stay-at-home order and therefore may not be attributable to the stay-at-home orders. Additional studies are needed to help explain why the association between stay-at-home orders and DV police call volume seems to o…

Use of multiple coders and analytic matrices increased analytic rigor. In the sample, 34.7% disclosed a …

Although the association among intimate partner violence (IPV), welfare receipt, and health status has been well‐established, little is known about the temporal sequencing of these events. In a random sample of low‐income African American women in an urban Midwestern county, lifecourse data about IPV and welfare receipt were obtained using the Life History Calendar method (D. Freedman, A. Thornton, D. Camburn, D. Alwin, & L. Young‐DeMarco, 1988),…

    Mieko Yoshihama, B Gillespie et al.•ARTICLE•Social Work Research•2005•Cited by: 21•References: 5

Respondents' recall ability may compromise the validity of their report of lifetime experience of intimate partner violence (IPV). This study compared two interview methods: a commonly used structured interview method and the Life History Calendar (LHC) method, which combines a visual calendar with a semistructured interview schedule to help respondents gain better access to long-term memory.
