Policy Versus Practice
General practices are not sufficiently supported by care groups and national policies in delivering integrated chronic care. The identified mismatch between policy and practice warrants redesign of support from care groups to align policies with identified barriers and facilitators at the provider level
Decision making under deep uncertainty for pandemic policy planning
Policymakers around the world were generally unprepared for the global COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the virus has led to millions of cases and hundreds of thousands of deaths. Theoretically, the number of cases and deaths did not have to happen (as demonstrated by the results in a few countries). In this pandemic, as in other great disasters, policymakers are confronted with what policy analysts call Decision Making under Deep Uncertainty (DMD…

Construct Validation of the Rainbow Model of Integrated Care Measurement Tool in Dutch Primary Care for Older Adults
The RMIC-MT is promising for the primary elderly care setting in the Netherlands. It can be used for evaluating integrated care initiatives in a primary care setting, thereby contributing to implementation of integrated primary elderly care
A Global Sharing Mechanism of Resources
To face crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, resources such as personal protection equipment (PPE) are needed to reduce the infection rate and protect those in close contact with patients. The increasing demand for those products can, together with pandemic-related disruptions in the global supply chain, induce major local resource scarcities. During the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed a reflex of 'our people first' in many regio…
The psychosocial adaptability of independently living older adults to Covid‐19 related social isolation in the Netherlands
Since coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) entered the Netherlands, the older adults (aged 70 or above) were recommended to isolate themselves, resulting in less social contact and possibly increased loneliness. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore independently living older adults' perceptions of social and emotional well-being during the COVID-19-related self-isolation, and their motivation to expand their social network in the futur…

Obtaining EQ-5D-5L utilities from the disease specific quality of life Alzheimer’s disease scale
The recommended mapping algorithm allows researchers for the first time to estimate EQ-5D values from QoL-AD data, enabling cost-utility analyses using datasets where the QoL-AD but no utility measures were collected
A Feasibility Study of a Social Robot Collecting Patient Reported Outcome Measurements from Older Adults
A three‐goal model for patients with multimorbidity
BACKGROUND: To meet the challenge of multimorbidity in decision making, a switch from a disease-oriented to a goal-oriented approach could be beneficial for patients and clinicians. More insight about the concept and the implementation of this approach in clinical practice is needed. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop conceptual descriptions of goal-oriented care by examining the perspectives of general practitioners (GPs) and clinical geriat…

Using Patient Reported Outcomes Measures to Promote Integrated Care
PROMs can deliver generic outcomes relevant for older patients, may improve patient-physician relationship, quality of care and prediction of future outcomes in geriatric care, if they are valid, reliable and responsive, but still short and simple. A precondition to make the hard tip from research to practice is that PROMs are carefully positioned in the clinical encounters and in electronic health records

Frailty in elderly people
Validation of the Care-Related Quality of Life Instrument in different study settings
First experiences with a two‐step method for discussing goals with community‐dwelling frail older people
BACKGROUND: Although frail older people can be more reluctant to become involved in clinical decision making, they do want professionals to take their concerns and wishes into account. Discussing goals can help professionals to achieve this. OBJECTIVE: To describe the development of a two-step method for discussing goals with frail older people in primary care and professionals' first experiences with it. METHODS: The method consisted of (i) an o…
