  • Looking for the most suitable method for the study of entheseal changes: Application to upper limb's fibrocartilaginous entheses in a human medieval sample

    Open Access•Uxue Perez‐arzak, Villotte et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 36

The study of entheseal changes (ECs), that is, osseous changes that occur at muscle attachment sites, has increased in recent years because they have been considered one of the most promising markers of activity in the human skeleton. Their aetiology is highly questioned because several factors unrelated to mechanical stress may be involved in their occurrence. Here, we test the validity of some methods created on different bases for the study of…

  • The Neolithic site of Haj Yusif (Central Sudan)

  • Ageing index evolution in the Spanish population

    Open Access•Gonzalo J Trancho, G Trancho et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1986•References: 2

Official statistics allow an analysis of the ageing index changes in the Spanish population from 1930 to 1975. During this period the ageing index values doubled from 19.11 to 38.60, the maximum increase having occurred between 1950 and 1960. Both birth and death rates lowered during the 45 years studid; however, the death rate decreased twice as fast. The natural increase rise was thus mainly due to a lower death rate. These data can explain a p…
