Micro‐CT Examination Reveals a Possible Case of Otosclerosis in an Early Bronze Age Individual From Poland
Contemporary imaging techniques, particularly micro–computed tomography, enable detailed visualization and analysis of pathological changes in skeletal remains. This study examines the right temporal bone of a male individual from the Early Bronze Age Mierzanowice culture (2200–2000 bc ), discovered in southeastern Poland. Macroscopic analysis revealed significant unilateral enlargement of the right petrous part and mastoid process. The aim of ou…
Interdisciplinary Insights Into Ochre Burial Rituals in Eastern Slovakia in the Beginning of the 3rd Millennium bc
This study investigates ochre from a Yamna culture grave in Michaľany, Eastern Slovakia. Radiocarbon dating resulted in 4330 ± 35 BP, calibrated to 3010–2898 bc . The grave's construction and dating confirm its cultural attribution. SEM and Raman spectrometry identified a red substance as hematite, representing the first evidence of its use in Yamna funerary practices in this region. Geochemical analysis suggests a local origin, likely linked to …
C dates funded within the contract archaeological excavations conducted along the S7 roadway on the section between Moczydło and Kraków (Lesser Poland) between 2016 and 2022
This paper presents the results of accelerator mass spectrometry radiocarbon (AMS 14 C) dating performed on archaeological samples (human bone, wood charcoal, and other charred plant macro-remains) from six sites located in the Lesser Poland Upland (southern Poland). We report 41 14 C age measurements performed on discoveries made during the contract excavations carried out during the S7 roadway construction from 2016–2022. The resulting ages fal…

Rynek pracy w Federacji Rosyjskiej – czy kobiety i mniejszości etniczne są równo traktowane na rosyjskim rynku pracy
Already existing sources considering women and ethnic minorities in Russian Federation point out to the inequity in treating these groups on the Russian labor market. The funeral rite of the Mierzanowice Culture in the Vistula and San river basins – graves from Rozbórz, Przeworsk district
The article describes a small cemetery of the Mierzanowice culture discovered at site 42 in Rozbórz, Przeworsk district, Podkarpackie Voivodship. The necropolis analysed is an example of the diversity of funeral rituals in the area between the Vistula and San rivers in the early Bronze Age. The analysis of the graves’ inventories enabled them to be connected with at least two phases of the cemetery’s utilisation. They can be synchronized with the…
Barrows in the funeral space at the turn of the Final Neolithic and the beginning of the Bronze Age in the Carpathian basins of Vistula and San rivers

Middle Bronze Age cemeteries, ‘double barrows’ and mortuary houses in the Upper Dniester Basin, Western Ukraine
This article discusses two cases of so‐called double barrows from the Middle Bronze Age Komarów culture cemetery in Bukivna, in the Upper Dniester Basin (Ukraine), in order to demonstrate the potential of incorporating geophysical image analysis, excavations and sedimentological studies towards identifying subterranean funerary architecture. The magnetometer prospection of the Bukivna necropolis revealed the presence of a specific dipolar anomaly…
Early Bronze Age barrow in Jawczyce, site 1, Wieliczka Foothills, Lesser Poland
Barrow 11 at site 1 in Jawczyce is the first burial mound in the Wieliczka Foothills, and also in the whole of Lesser Poland, dated to the 19th and 18th centuries BC and associated with the late phase of the Mierzanowice culture. The grave under the mound had a wooden construction, and within it were found faience beads as well as four flint arrowheads. The interment was not preserved. The radiocarbon date acquired from charcoal is 3580±35 BP (Po…
Funnel Beaker Culture tombs in the eastern part of Wodzisław Hummock
The paper sums up the field research carried out at the complex of ceremonial-funerary sites at Malżyce and Zagaje Stradowskie in the northern part of the western Lesser Poland loess upland. The research revealed differences in construction among chamberless Funnel Beaker Culture (FBC) tombs in western Lesser Poland. The results obtained at these sites were later confirmed by data from other sites explored in recent years. Typological and chronom…
First archaeological investigations of barrows in the Bačka region and the question of the Eneolithic/Early Bronze Age barrows in Vojvodina

Human Mobility in the Final Eneolithic Population of Święte, Jarosław District, South-Eastern Poland
Strontium isotope ratios ( 87 Sr/ 86 Sr) were applied to investigate provenance amongst the Final Eneolithic population at Święte (sites 11, 15 and 20) in the Subcarpathian region, south-eastern Poland. The study used 11 human enamel samples collected from the niche graves of the Corded Ware culture. To obtain base-line information on the local Sr isotope composition seven animal enamel samples were also examined. They were found in the adjacent …
