  • Interrogating alignment of the 2026 Fifa World Cup event objectives across the Canadian soccer system

Open Access•Georgia Teare, Kevin A Morrison et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2026•References: 5

Both top-down and bottom-up organizations often have event-related objectives associated with hosting major sport events. The extent to which the objectives of these organizations align within the host region can play a role in objective achievement (e.g., through efficient resource mobilization). This study examines the types and alignment of objectives of sport system stakeholders in each of the Canadian host locations of the 2026 FIFA World Cu…

  • Critical Social Science in Sport Management Research

Open Access•Kerri Bodin, Georgia Teare et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2022

Sport management scholars have called for the application of broader research approaches, including critical social science. Such approaches help uncover the less-desirable aspects of sport and, therefore, offer a basis for positive change. While there have been advancements in the use of innovative research approaches over time, there remains little understanding of how these calls have been addressed. The purpose of this scoping review is to ex…

  • Sport Events for Sport Participation

Open Access•Georgia Teare, Marijke Taks•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2021

Research on sport participation impacts from sport events has been sporadic. This scoping review assesses the current state of literature that addresses impacts, legacies, and leveraging of sport events for sport participation outcomes and the gaps in terms of study context and research designs. Two systematic approaches of article identification were performed: a traditional database search and a systematic manual search. Studies on sport partic…

  • Extending the scoping review framework

Georgia Teare, Marijke Taks•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2020

Reviews of literature are conducted within academia to summarize and highlight gaps in findings and research approaches associated with a particular line of inquiry. Identifying sources to be included in reviews in rigorous ways can be challenging for interdisciplinary research topics, as relevant articles may be found in a wide variety of sources. Guidelines on conducting reviews rarely include step-by-step methods of identifying articles. Thus,…

  • Agreement Between Clinical and Administrative Health Databases for Medication Use in Saskatchewan's Long-Term Care Residents

Lin Yan, Lisa M Lix et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2013

Introduction The Resident Assessment Instrument Minimum Data Set (RAI-MDS) is a clinical tool intended to provide comparable and consistent information about the functional status and care needs of residents of long-term facilities (LTCFs). The RAI-MDS has been used in numerous studies about quality of care, including studies about the use of medications associated with potentially adverse health outcomes. However, the accuracy of many of the RAI…

  • Identifying Potentially Avoidable Hospital Admissions From Canadian Long-Term Care Facilities

    Jennifer D Walker, Georgia Teare et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2009•References: 18

BACKGROUND: The provision of preventive services and continuity of care are important aspects of long-term care (LTC). A proposed quality indicator of such care is the rate of hospitalizations due to ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSCs). As the ACSC approach to identifying potentially avoidable hospitalizations (PAH) was developed for younger community-dwelling adults in the United States, we sought to examine its applicability as a quali…

STUDY SAMPLE: Subjects for this study were admitted to Ontario Complex Con…

  • Cost and Quality

    Walter P Wodchis, Georgia Teare et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2007•References: 34

BACKGROUND: Although both quality and cost are important concerns for long term care (LTC) facility management and policy, the relationship between cost and quality is poorly understood. Such knowledge is necessary to guide facility management and policy action. OBJECTIVE: We sought to determine the net effect of quality on cost in LTC hospital settings. STUDY SAMPLE: A 4-year panel dataset from April 1997 through March 2002 comprising observatio…
