  • An autopsy of the coloniality of suicide

    Open Access•Tisha X, X Tisha et al.•ARTICLE•Health An Interdisciplinary…•2022•Cited by: 2•References: 8

From the Latin American modernity/coloniality project, we address the inhospitality of the modern/colonial and globally designed world-system in relation to suicidality. In our vernacular Spanglish, guided by epistemological disobedience, and responding to epistemicide, we interpellate ourselves to unmask the hidden colonial structures of power of modernity's global design on suicide knowledge. Our intent is to argue, specifically from the perspe…

  • Changes in Withdrawal and Craving Scores in Participants Undergoing Opioid Detoxification Utilizing Ibogaine

Benjamin Malcolm, Martin Polanco et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2018

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is currently an epidemic in the United States (US) and ibogaine is reported to have the ability to interrupt opioid addiction by simultaneously mitigating withdrawal and craving symptoms. This study examined opioid withdrawal and drug craving scores in 50 participants with OUD undergoing a week-long detoxification treatment protocol with ibogaine. The Addiction Severity Index (ASI) was used for baseline characterization …

  • A Mixed-Method Analysis of Persisting Effects Associated with Positive Outcomes Following Ibogaine Detoxification

A K Davis, Elise Renn et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2018

We examined persisting effects, self-perceived challenges, and potential benefits associated with positive outcomes following ibogaine detoxification using data collected as part of a larger online retrospective study of 73 patients who received treatment for chronic opioid use in Mexico between 2012 and 2015. A mixed-methods design was used comparing treatment responders versus non-responders, as well as content coding of themes from open-ended …

  • A phenomenological investigation into the lived experience of ibogaine and its potential to treat opioid use disorders

Open Access•Thaddeus James Camlin, Donald Eulert et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychedelic Studies•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 39

This study examined the lived experience of individuals who underwent ibogaine treatment for an opioid use disorder. Semi-structured interview questions probed for potential changes in predetermined categories derived from a literature review. Participants' experiences with ibogaine were analyzed for commonalities and emergent themes. Categories that emerged revealed themes about subjective neurological and physical effects, auditory and visual p…

  • Subjective effectiveness of ibogaine treatment for problematic opioid consumption

    Open Access•A K Davis, Joseph P Barsuglia et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychedelic Studies•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 18

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Very few studies have reported the effectiveness of ibogaine as a treatment for chronic opioid use. Therefore, this study evaluated the acute subjective effects of ibogaine, outcomes on problematic opioid consumption, and the long-term associations with psychological functioning. METHODS: Using online data collection, 88 patients who received ibogaine treatment in Mexico between 2012 and 2015 completed our survey. RESULTS: Mo…
