  • Energy budgeting and economic analysis of coriander crop production in central India

Open Access•Sushma Painkra, Krishan P Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2025

  • Phytosociology and soil attributes of different vegetation stands in Chhattisgarh, India

Open Access•Shailendra Singh Rajput, Shailendra Rajput et al.•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2025

  • Wildfires and carbon budget of certain seasonally dry forests in India

Open Access•M K Jhariya, Lalji Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2024

Globally, the increasing fire events in addition to climate change due to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) as well as other greenhouse gases exerts huge pressure on natural resources and their management. This phenomenon is more severe in the tropical region due to increasing population, urbanization, industrialization, existing pressures, and limiting conditions. In the present study, carbon (C) stock, carbon sequestration (C seq ), CO 2 m…

  • Assessment of land use systems for CO 2 sequestration, carbon credit potential, and income security in Vindhyan region, India

Open Access•Oindrila Roy, Ram Swaroop Meena et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2022

Land‐use systems (LUSs) in the agriculture urgently need to be revised to reduce greenhouse gases emissions (GHGs), and promote long‐term sustainability. This study aimed to estimate the highest amount of CO 2 sequestration, carbon (C) stocks, and credit potential to mitigate climate change, and importantly identify a more sustainable LUS for income security, which can be easily adopted by farmers. The experiment was executed with the current yea…

  • Relationships between soil and microbial biomass properties and annual flux of nutrients in Central Himalaya forests, India

Open Access•Vijyeta Manral, Kiran Bargali et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2022

The interrelationship among soil attributes and microbial biomass carbon (MBC), nitrogen (MBN), and phosphorus (MBP) of Indian Central Himalaya forest soils were analyzed. The forest ecosystem studied composed of chir pine (CPF), banj oak (BOF), and mixed oak‐pine forest (MOPF). This study reported 429–739 mg kg−1 MBC, 67–121 mg kg−1 MBN, and 18–63 mg kg −1 MBP. The contribution of MBC, MBN, and MBP appears to be 1.47–4.11 ( X = 2.66%), 2.65–11.1…

  • Structure and functioning of Coriaria nepalensis dominated shrublands in degraded hills of Kumaun Himalaya. I. Dry matter dynamics

Open Access•Pankaj Awasthi, Kiran Bargali et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2022

In Kumaun Himalaya, the shrublands dominated by Coriaria nepalensis are present in patches and due to their facilitative nature enhance the restoration of degraded hills. This study deals with the dry matter dynamics of C. nepalensis shrublands. The equation for C. nepalensis was developed to measure the biomass and to understand the dry matter dynamics through compartmental models. Total biomass of tree, shrub and herb varied from 71.66 to 217.4…

  • Impact of disturbance on biomass, carbon, and nitrogen storage in vegetation and on soil properties of tropical dry deciduous forest in Chhattisgarh, India

Open Access•Manutai Thakrey, Lalji Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2022

The tropical deforestation due to biotic interference, land use change, and population explosion in Asian countries has attracted the global concern with respect to conservation and protection of forest resources. Indian soils are limited in terms of nutrient reserves and organic matters. Our present study deals the influence of disturbance on phytosociology, vegetation carbon (C), and nitrogen (N) along with soil properties of tropical deciduous…

  • Effect of environmental variables on Acacia gum production in the tropics of Chhattisgarh, India

    Open Access•Abhishek Raj, M K Jhariya•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2022

  • Phytosociological attributes and regeneration potential of riparian vegetation in Northern Chhattisgarh, India

    Open Access•Eliyajrj Kujur, M K Jhariya et al.•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2022

  • Herbaceous diversity and biomass under different fire regimes in a seasonally dry forest ecosystem

    Open Access•M K Jhariya, Lalji Singh•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2021

  • Knowledge, Adoption and Managerial Perspectives of Banana Growing Communities in Durg, Chhattisgarh, India

Open Access•Poonam, Poonam Poonam et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•2017•References: 9

An investigation was carried out in two selected blocks (Dhamdha and Berla) of Durg district to assess the knowledge, adoption and management practices performed by banana growers. The study comprised of 150 respondents who were randomly selected and interviewed through well-structured questionnaires. The findings revealed that majority (70%) of the farmers had medium level of overall knowledge regarding recommen ded banana production technologie…

  • A Comprehensive Study on Ecological Aspect, Feeding Behaviour and Pugmark Analysis of Elephants in the Bordering Areas of Northern Chhattisgarh

    Open Access•K Bhagat, V K Bhagat et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•2017•References: 10

The study attempted to examine the ecological aspect, feeding behaviour with food preferences and pugmark analysis in four blocks viz, Kunkuri, Duldula, Bagicha and Farsabahar of northern Chhattisgarh. The field study was conducted through well structured questionnaires in the affected villages/forest areas where migrated elephants were encountered. Among the different pressing issues related to farming in the study area the major obstacle was wi…
