Learning disabilities and intelligence test results
The unrotated principal components analysis of the WISC‐R normative data yields a bipolar factor 2 which corresponds to a verbal‐non‐verbal continuum of test material. A review of published WISC‐R and WISC data from learning disabled (LD) children reveals that the amount of deficit shown by these children on any particular subtest is closely proportional to the degree of verbal content, as expressed by the factor 2 score coefficient of that subte…
The Social Self-Esteem Inventory
Seventy six items describing self-esteem in social situations were rated by 265 subjects, and subsequently subjected to an iterative item-total correlation and analysis in order to maximize factorial purity. Factor analysis of the remaining 30-item scale revealed a single general factor that accounted for 39.7% of the total variance. A new group of 128 subjects completed the 30-items twice, and a retest reliability over 4-weeks indicated that the…
Schizophrenic Speech
Verbal responses were obtained to two questions from the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Comprehension Sub-test from three groups of subjects matched for age and verbal I.Q.: schizoprhenic patients, non-schizophrenic psychiatric hospital patients, normal controls. These responses were rated by 11 graduate clinical psychology students on 15 four point scales based mainly on adjectives used in the psychiatric literature to describe " schizophreni…

The results indicated that all subjects found it more difficult to handle visually, as opposed to aurally, presented information. The decline in visual retention was found to increase with age, this being most noticeable after the age of 60 years. The theoretical and practical consequenc…
