Classification of small watersheds in Czechia for the assessment of hydrological response uncertainty
This study aims to classify small catchments in the Czech Republic to analyse their hydrological response. A total of 7739 catchments in IV class under 20 square kilometres were grouped into five categories based on six parameters. These parameters include precipitation amount (6 hours) and shape, stream network density and average mean surface runoff, catchment shape and average CN value, representing morphological and land-use characteristics. …
Spatiotemporal analysis of land use changes along the upper part of the Vltava River valley since the mid-19th century
Cartographic Design and Processing of Originally Printed Historical Maps for Their Presentation on the Web
On the example of our project on the creation of the historical web atlas on Czech history, we introduce the process of adapting originally printed historical maps for their presentation in the web environment, which overcomes the shortcomings of standard approaches in similar projects based on printed predecessors published only as zoomable scanned analogues or default GIS maps. To simplify the originally complex map and to increase the informat…
Historical Vltava River Valley–Various Historical Sources within Web Mapping Environment
The article deals with a comprehensive information system of the historic Vltava River valley. This system contains a number of resources, which are described. For old maps, which are the basis of the whole system, their georeferencing and potential problems in creating seamless mosaics are described. Other sources of data include old photographs, which are localized and stored in the system, along with the definition point of the place from whic…
