This study examines how distinct expressive forms—poetic narrative, music, and bodily movement—work together as a unified whole in the performance of the Miraçlama, the Alevi rite narrating the Prophet Muhammed’s mythic ascension and his joining with the Gathering of the Forty. This study analyzes the extensive manuscript tradition of the Vilayetname of Hacı Bektaş to better understand the variations among its versions and refine the common threefold typology of prose, verse and prose+verse versions.
