Change of Patients’ Quality of Life After Hip Replacement at the First Stage of Rehabilitation
The research has been done to analyze changes of patients' quality of life at the first stage of rehabilitation after hip replacement. 140 patients undergone total hip replacement were surveyed (73 female and 67 male, average age (57,0 ± 9,0) years old) . The patients were divided into two groups: I group - 52 persons at the age under 55 years old (average age (48,0 ± 4,0) years old); II group - 88 persons at the age of 56 and older (average age …
Kostenki 1 and the early Upper Paleolithic of Eastern Europe
State of Cognitive Functions in Able-Bodied Men Driving Motor Transport
We have assessed cognitive functions in 103 able-bodied men (66 men were drivers; 37 men were in the control group, their profession was not connected with vibration). In each group, healthy patients and patients with arterial hypertension (AH) were separated. The cognitive functions were studied with use of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MoCA-test). Cognitive disorders were found in 45.5 % of the drivers and in 29.7 % of the men from t…

From the Bay of Naples to the River Don
Early Upper Paleolithic in Eastern Europe and Implications for the Dispersal of Modern Humans
Radiocarbon and optically stimulated luminescence dating and magnetic stratigraphy indicate Upper Paleolithic occupation—probably representing modern humans—at archaeological sites on the Don River in Russia 45,000 to 42,000 years ago. The oldest levels at Kostenki underlie a volcanic ash horizon identified as the Campanian Ignimbrite Y5 tephra that is dated elsewhere to about 40,000 years ago. The occupation layers contain bone and ivory artifac…
