This article focuses on an exploratory study, documenting the experience of ten working class gay men in Toronto. Clients in an animal hospital waitiing room in Manhattan were observed and their interactions with their animals recorded. There was no specific difference in interaction rate and type between men and women, although only women were observed with dogs that had "clothes" and women tended to hold their animals more than men did
