Standing Apart: Mormon Historical Consciousness and the Concept of Apostasy
'Standing Apart' explores how the idea of apostasy has functioned as a category to mark, define, and set apart 'the other' in the development of Mormon historical consciousness and in the construction of Mormon narrative identity. The contributors trace the development of and changes in Latter-day Saints' narratives of apostasy within the context of Mormon history and American Protestant historiography.
Independent associations between cardiorespiratory fitness, waist circumference, BMI, and clustered cardiometabolic risk in adolescents
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to examine the independent associations between measures of adiposity and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) with clustered cardiometabolic risk in adolescents. METHODS: 209 adolescents (139 boys), aged 15-17.5 years participated. Participants completed anthropometric measurements [height, weight, waist circumference (WC)] whilst the 20 m fitness test was used to assess CRF. Additional measures included syst…

The effects of time and intensity of exercise on novel and established markers of CVD in adolescent youth
OBJECTIVES: This article examines the effects of brief, intense exercise in comparison with traditional endurance exercise on both novel and traditional markers of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in youth. METHODS: Forty seven boys and ten girls (16.4 ± 0.7 years of age) were divided into a moderate (MOD), high intensity (HIT), or a control group. The MOD group (12 boys, 4 girls) and HIT group (15 boys, 2 girls) performed three weekly exercise sessi…

Trends in Canadian Security Policy And Commitments
Canadian governments actively promoted the creation of NATO and demonstrated commitment to an Atlanticist security orientation throughout the Alliance's formative years. The goal of ensuring ongoing yet constrained American engagement in European security affairs obviously accounted for this early Canadian support for the North Atlantic concept. But there were composite motives at play, including a predisposition for multilateralism over an exclu…

Confucianism and Christianity: The First Encounter
The book centres around a major theme: the first 'confrontation' between the Supreme Ultimate (or T'ien) of the Confucian cosmological order and the Christian anthropomorphic God as conveyed to the Chinese literati by the Western missionaries
Confucianism and Christianity: The First Encounter
This is a pioneer study of the Christian missionaries in late Ming and early Ch'ing China - in the sense that it draws upon source-materials hitherto neglected to give an entirely new perspective on the history of the first meeting between East and West
