  • Gendered Racial Microaggressions Scale for Asian American Women

Brian Taehyuk Keum, J Brady et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Counseling Psychology•2018•Cited by: 26•References: 18

Asian American women's (AAW's) mental health issues have received growing public attention; recent statistics suggest alarmingly high suicide rates among AAW. Aylin Kaya, Derek K Iwamoto et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology of Men & Masculinity•2015•Cited by: 2•References: 12

This study examined conformity to both masculine and feminine norms, and how conformity to distinct norms influenced heavy episodic drinking and alcohol-related problems among a sample of underage college women (N= 645). Results demonstrat…

  • Differential Effects of Right-Wing Authoritarianism and Social Dominance Orientation on Political Candidate Support

    Open Access•Jarret T Crawford, J Brady et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social and Political…•2013•Cited by: 4•References: 21

Employing a dual process motivational (DPM) model perspective, we found that how political messages are framed influences the differential effects of right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) and social dominance orientation (SDO) on political candidate support in the United States. Study 1 (N = 85) found that RWA and SDO differentially predicted support for right-wing candidates who used cohesion and group status threats to frame same-sex marriage, resp…

  • Theorizing a Reading Public

    J Brady, Jennifer L Brady•ARTICLE•American Literature•2011•Cited by: 2

By reconsidering the complex, dialectical relationship that existed between novels and their detractors in the antebellum United States, Brady's essay argues that antinovel commentators aimed not simply to limit the activity of novel reading but to redefine what it is and, more importantly, what it does. In conduct books, public lectures, and other printed materials, commentators argued that novel reading did not empower individual readers but ma…
