Social Competence, School Engagement, and School Performance Among US Children Adopted Through Private Domestic, International, and Foster Care Adoption
We examined social competence, learning-related disorders, and school engagement in relation to grade point average (GPA) among three groups of children adopted by heterosexual and same-sex couples: 84 adopted privately, 29 internationally, and 20 from foster care. Specifically, it examined how the students chose their graduate program and, secondarily, how they chose their field, what led them to apply to graduate school, and their outness during the application process.
