  • Mobilizáció

Open Access•P J Mayer, Peter Mayer et al.•ARTICLE•Tér és Társadalom•2009

Jelen tanulmány az utazási szokásokat a tágabb mobilitási élettörténettel és a jelenlegi gyakorlattal összefiggésben vizsgálja. A mobilitási életút kvalitatív vizsgálata alapján három olyan ideáltípust mutat be, amelyek a mobilitás fejlődésének eltérő módjait reprezentálják. A mobilizáció fogalmának megragadásával egyrészt a mobilitási dimenziók közötti kölcsönhatás, másrészt a mobilitás fejlődésének változása áll a középpontban. A cikk továbbá r…

  • Archilochos első kölni epódosa (196A W 2 ) - költői támadás vagy dícséret

    P J Mayer, Peter Mayer•ARTICLE•Antik Tanulmányok•2007

    P J Mayer, Peter Mayer•ARTICLE•Antik Tanulmányok•2006

Simónidés Plataia-elégiája a communis opinio szerint ünnepi költemény. Minthogy e nyilvánosan elő-adott vers dicsérőleg említi a plataiai csata győztes hadvezérét, Pausaniast, az ő Kr. e. 478-as politikai bukása miatt a kutatás kizártnak tartja, hogy a költemény ezt követően születhetett volna. A dolgozat a vers sym-potikus történő előadása mellett érvel, s ezzel összhangban megalkotásának lehetséges idejét egészen Simónidés haláláig, a Kr. e. 46…

  • Inheritance of longevity evinces no secular trend among members of six New England families born 1650–1874

    Open Access•P J Mayer•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•1991

This study investigated the historical trend in resemblance between first‐degree relatives for age at death. Data from genealogies of six New England families (N = 13,656) were divided into nine 25 year birth cohorts, 1650–1874, to test the hypothesis that familial influence on human longevity has changed during the past 300 years. Heritability (h 2 ) for longevity demonstrated no historical trend, whether calculated by regression of offspring's …

  • Gender differences in age-related decline in DNA double-strand break damage and repair in lymphocytes

    Open Access•P J Mayer, Christopher S Lange et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1991

DNA repair capacity has been suggested to be a genetic mechanism which influences the rate of ageing and length of life. We recently reported an age-related decline in DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair in unstimulated human lymphocytes (Mayer, Lange, Bradley, and Nichols 1989, 1990). In that work peripheral lymphocytes isolated from whole blood donated by 20 normal, healthy subjects aged 23-78 years, were X-irradiated (30 Gy) on ice and incuba…

    Open Access•Gary A Borkan, David E Hults et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1982•Cited by: 7•References: 99

The field of gerontology is remarkably diverse; yet there has been relatively little investigation of physical anthropological issues in aging research. This review explores gerontologic topics of actual and/or potential interest to physical anthropologists. The evolution of aging presents a theoretical dilemma in that postreproductively expressed traits may be outside the influence of natural selection. The physiological changes of aging compris…
