With the enactment of Ghana's Mental Health Act (Act 846) in 2012, the country is poised for implementing the conditions of this law. A careful review of the Act indicates the government's willingness to make outpatient mental health treatment a priority. Community treatment orders and the experiences of ethnic minority individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness in the Canadian mental health system
The findings of this study suggest that although CTOs are not a panacea for every mental health problem, they can be effective with a specific group who choose to follow through with the expectations of the treatment.
