The Emergence of an Asian Communist Coalition
Since the Moscow conference of Communist and Workers Parties in 1960, the Chinese People's Republic has acquired important support for its position in ideological op position to the Soviet Union from a number of other parties, especially in Asia. The emergence of what amounts to an Asian Communist coalition enhances the practical possibility of a split in the world movement. A split, however, is contrary to the interests of the Asian parties. The…

The two books under review exemplify, each in its own way, the prosperous state that Japanology has attained in this country. Maxon adds his name to the already respectably long list of American students whose grasp of sources is both broad and deep, who have worked directly with Japanese individuals and institutions as well as studied them, and who furthermore have a point to make. Maxon's book is a closely documented monograph. The revised edit…

Yuma Kinship Termsi1
The Yuma kinship terms have been listed and their structure analyzed. Comment has been made on certain morphological features of the kinship terms. From the analysis of the usage pattern of male and female terms the suggestion has been derived that a relatively simple conceptual system underlies the relatively complex terminological system. Some congruence has been shown between the affinal kinship terminology, the naming practices, and the proba…
