Two Versions of Meaning Failure: A Contributing Essay to the Explanation of the Split Between Analytical and Phenomenological Continental philosophy
Consequences of Husserl’s anti-naturalism for a theory of Meaning
This article is a historical reading dedicated to rescuing aspects of Husserl's phenomenology and defending its reflexive advantages over a naturalistic and calculative view of the question of meaning. We introduce Husserl's theory of intentionality and his idealized view of the structure of meaning production. We compare this theory with the problem of the linguistic-semantic object of study, showing that it inevitably evokes skepticism about th…
Kant's dynamic metaphysics: Kant's Theory of Judgment and the Nature of the Theoretical Knowledge of Consistency in Empirical Reasoning
Kant's theory of judgment involves his answer to the question "How is knowledge of the pattern underlying intentional strategies of objective - true and justified - representation of empirical events possible?" When we problematize this question, the problem of the scope of our notion of consistency in empirical reasoning emerges. We will argue in this article that Kant's theory includes a thesis about the circular nature of our patterns of consi…
Remarks on the problem of Sense in a pragmatic reading: An interpretation of Dummett on the intensional problem
The division of the problems about Meaning in an extensional and an intensional theory was accused of unnecessarily duplicating the theoretical problems involved in the knowledge of Meaning. The result was either 1. an aggressive rejection of the intensional part of the problem or 2. the adoption of non-classical semantics to account for intensions. This paper suggests a reading of Frege's theory of Meaning that preserves the contribution of the …
A Philosophical Recap of the Notion of Semantic Value: An Argument for Semantic Foundationalism and a Review of the Pragmatic Foundation of Consensus Production
This paper is an assessment of the scientific role of the study of semantics to represent the technical types of consensus produced in human practice. We propose that "meaning" should not be understood as a projection of success, canonized as an absolute rational method; but rather as a series of strategies of meaning, which develop circularly in the historical sphere of communication. With this we intend to bring up the problem of meaning outsid…
Linguagem, Objeto E Intensão: Uma Linha Investigativa Do Intensionalismo Não Conciliável Com a Metafísica
A Reincidência Do Problema Da Realidade Exterior: Discussões Sobre a Versão Transcendental Do Idealismo
