  • Out of sight, out of mind? How and when cognitive role transition episodes influence employee performance

    Open Access•Brandon W Smit, Patrick Maloney et al.•ARTICLE•Human Relations•2016•Cited by: 8•References: 56

A widely-cited proposition in boundary theory states that it is difficult for individuals to transition between roles, especially when these roles are highly segmented. We provide an empirical test of these propositions and draw from the self-regulation literature to expand boundary theory in exploring how episodes of cognitive role transitions impact job performance. We propose that cog…

The results indicated that fewer Israeli males were classified as androgynous. No significant differences were found in the masculine or feminine categories. It was found that Israeli and American females were very similar in terms of mean masculine and feminine BSRI scores. …

  • Structural Representation of Social Behavior in Rodents

Open Access•Robert Deitchman, Patrick Maloney et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1979

The value of using multivariate techniques in categorization of behaviors derived from naturalistic observations was examined. It is suggested that these techniques are superior to the traditional methods of forming categories based on a priori conceptualizations, simply correlating the measures, or leaving the categorization of a multitude of behaviors to the reader. The present study used factor analytic techniques to identify both the number a…
