    Jeannine A Gailey, R Frank Falk•ARTICLE•Sociological Spectrum•2008•Cited by: 1•References: 5

Attributions of responsibility (AR) are of interest to sociologists and psychologists. However, the measurement of AR has been inconsistent both within and across the disciplines. The present study tests whether AR is a multidimensional or unidimensional concept. Data for study 1 were collected from 201 undergraduate students at a large, midwestern university. Results indicate that there are four factors associated with AR, supporting the content…

    Open Access•D W S Wong, Howard Lasus et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning A…•1999•Cited by: 8•References: 18

In this paper, we propose a methodology to study the scale effect and zoning effect of the modifiable areal unit problem (MAUP). Instead of aggregating basic spatial units by the neighborhood criterion, we suggest placing a square lattice over the centroids representing the enumeration units in the study area. Areal units are aggregated if their centroids are in the same square. By changing the size of the square in the lattice, we can study the …

  • A Self-Image Inventory: Its Theoretical Background, Reliability and Validity

    Open Access•John W Kinch, John Kinch et al.•ARTICLE•Symbolic Interaction•1983•References: 11

Wylie (1974) points out that there is a lack of adequate theoretical development in the investigation of the self-concept. The result is a proliferation of operational definitions with no clear understanding of the relationship between operations, between constructs, and between the constructs and their operationalizations. In this article we make explicit the theoretical component of self to which this Self-image Inventory relates. The article pr…

    David D Franks, R Frank Falk et al.•ARTICLE•Sociology of Education•1973•Cited by: 1

This research note presents data regarding differences in student responses to value statements and shows that the pattern of change differs depending on the major and the number of courses taken in that major. Sociology and business majors are compared since they typically differ along a conservativeliberal social values continuum. This allows a cohort design that can rule out maturation within the general culture (Telford and Plant, 1968) and t…
