  • More than skin deep: Major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-based attraction among Asian American speed-daters

Open Access•Karen Wu, C Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Evolution and Human Behavior•2018

  • Cultural Genomics: Promises and Challenges

    Open Access•C Chen, Robert K Moyzis•ARTICLE•Journal of Cross-Cultural…•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 136

In this article, we attempt to integrate recent advances in our understanding of the relations between culture and genes into an emerging field-cultural genomics-and discuss its promises and theoretical and methodological challenges. We first provide a brief review of previous conceptualizations about the relations between culture and genes and then argue that recent advances in molecular evolution research has allowed us to reframe the discussio…

  • Gender Interacts with Opioid Receptor Polymorphism A118G and Serotonin Receptor Polymorphism −1438 A/G on Speed-Dating Success

    Open Access•Karen Wu, C Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Human Nature•2016

  • Relations between three dopaminergic system genes, school attachment, and adolescent delinquency

    Adam D Fine, Alissa Mahler et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2016•References: 1

Both environmental factors and genetic variation, particularly in genes responsible for the dopaminergic system such as DRD4, DRD2, and DAT1 (SLC6A3), affect adolescent delinquency. The school context, despite its developmental importance, has been overlooked in gene-environment research. Using data from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development (NICHD ECCYD), this study examined …

  • Recent acceleration of human adaptive evolution

Open Access•John Hawks, Eric T Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2007

Genomic surveys in humans identify a large amount of recent positive selection. Using the 3.9-million HapMap SNP dataset, we found that selection has accelerated greatly during the last 40,000 years. We tested the null hypothesis that the observed age distribution of recent positively selected linkage blocks is consistent with a constant rate of adaptive substitution during human evolution. We show that a constant rate high enough to explain the …
