  • Cucos, formigas, abelhas e a evolução dos instintos

    Open Access•César Ades•ARTICLE•Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio…•2012•References: 20

  • Effects of Reward and Familiarity of Reward Agent on Spontaneous Play in Preschoolers

Open Access•Paula Inez Cunha Gomide, César Ades•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1989

A field experiment was conducted with preschool children to test the effect of rewards on a familiar, spontaneous play activity, in conditions as close as possible to the children's natural school context, and to examine the role of familiarity of the person who administered rewards. In three experimental conditions, children were rewarded either by their own teacher or by an unknown adult for playing with toys at the school playground and stayed…

  • Effects of a Brief Period of Handling on Activity of Rats

    Open Access•César Ades, Nilce A S Broadway•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1977

To investigate the effects of handling as a factor distinct from environmental novelty, adult rats were subjected to a brief period of handling in their own home cages. In one group handling was preceded by a signaling tone; in another group tone and handling were not paired. Handling elicited similar, clear-cut increases in activity in both groups and lost some of its effect with repeated presentations. No significant changes in activity during …

  • Effect of Previous Exposure on Response Decrement Induced by an Olfactory Stimulus

Open Access•César Ades, Maria Alice De Campos Rodrigues•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1975

Two experiments examined the influence of pre-exposure on the decrement produced in a trained running response by a novel odor. In Exp. 1, when first presented in the runway, the smell led to higher running times in a group of rats pre-exposed 72 hr. earlier and in a group with no pre-exposure than in a group pre-exposed 25 min. earlier. There was no significant difference between the first two groups. In Exp. 2, three groups of rats were pre-exp…
