Natural Radioactivity Content and Radon Exhalation Rate Assessment for Building Materials from the Archaeological Park of Tindari, Sicily, Southern Italy
This paper presents a case study of the natural radioactivity level and radon exhalation in limestone and sandstone rocks from the archaeological park of Tindari, located in Sicily, southern Italy. These rocks were representative of natural stones utilised as building materials in the studied area. The activity concentrations of 226 Ra, 232 Th, and 40 K were assessed using high purity germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray spectrometry. Subsequently, the abs…
Mereomodal partialhood and fractional counting
When we count, we often count fractions, too. We contend that fractional counting involves partial entities, which are merely possible parts of entities of the counted kind. The size of these possible parts is measured with respect to the size of a possible member of that kind. Therefore, partialhood is mereomodal, and the logical form of fractional counting claims includes mereological predicates, modal operators, and a measurement functor. Diff…
Thin Mereological Sums, Abstraction, and Interpretational Modalities
Some tools introduced by Linnebo to show that mathematical entities are thin objects can also be applied to non‐mathematical entities, which have been thought to be thin as well for a variety of reasons. In this paper, I discuss some difficulties and opportunities concerning the application of abstraction and interpretational modalities to mereological sums. In particular, I show that on one hand some prima facie attractive candidates for the rol…

Expansionism and Mereological Universalism
Mereological universalists, according to whom every plurality of entities has a fusion, usually claim that most quantifications are restricted to ordinary entities. However, there is no evidence that our usual quantifications over ordinary objects are restricted. In this article I explore an alternative way of reconciling Mereological Universalism with our usual quantifications. I resort to a modest form of ontological expansionism and to the so‐…
