  • Retail Stores in Poor Urban Neighborhoods

Open Access•Linda F Alwitt, Thomas Donley et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Affairs•1997

This paper examines several hypotheses about access to different types and sizes of retail establishments by residents of poor and non‐poor urban neighborhoods, using Chicago as a case study. As expected, poor zip code areas in Chicago have fewer and smaller retail outlets overall than nonpoor areas, including fewer supermarkets, banks, and large drug stores. Open Access•Linda F Alwitt•ARTICLE•American Behavioral Scientist•1995•Cited by: 3•References: 14

  • Repetition When Learned Paired-Associate Items are Replaced

    Open Access•Linda F Alwitt, Richard O Rouse•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1962

Rock (1957) reported no difference in number of trials to criterion between a control group which learned a constant list of paired associates in the usual fashion and an experimental group for which new pairs replaced those missed on any trial. Several reports of replications have since appeared (Clark, et al., 1960; Rock & Heimer, 1959; Williams, 1961). Rock and others have concluded that associations are formed on an all-or-none basis, and int…
