Noting the limited understanding of group dynamics among health researchers using corrective groups, this paper proposes that a number of principles already established in the field of small groups might be used to facilitate the processes of conformity and social control in corrective groups. Illness frequency, physician utilization, and perceived legitimacy to the sick role were examined in relationship to SES and family size. A household respondent in each unit from 67 threegeneration families was interviewed quarterly over the period of one year.
