Do Falling Frequency and Neighborhood Environment Jointly Influence Physical Activity Behavior in Midlife and Older Adults
Objective: Drawing upon the socio-ecological framework, this study examines whether the neighborhood environment moderates the relation between falling frequency and physical activity (PA) behavior among adults 55 years or older. Methods: At baseline, participants ( N = 430) reported number of falls during the past 12 months and leisure-time PA during the past month. At follow-up, PA was assessed weekly using the Physical Activity Scale for Elder…
Climatization and Declimatization
Climate change forces a reckoning with the ecological side effects of fossil-fuel-based industrial development, requiring an incorporation of climate issues into the mainstream structures of society. In this perspective article, we address this as a “climatization” process directed at aligning society with climate imperatives. We focus on the contingent dynamics of “climatization” and show how contention may be avoided by “declimatizing” climate …

Climate camps and environmental movements. Impacting the coal industry and practicing ‘system change’
‘System change not climate change!’ has been one of the prominent slogans the climate movement used during its ever growing campaigning against coal mining and the causally linked climate change. This article traces climate camps as a form of protest for a social movement and investigates its concepts. In analysing its intertwinement with particular sites of pollution, the environmental and the left movement, it demonstrates that the movement’s b…
Adivasi images, Adivasi voices. The resonance of the Eickstedt collection
This article analyses how past and contemporary Adivasi voices are expressed in colonial photographs, and how they have—and continue to—both enable and restrict speaking through visual representation. It examines the collection of the German anthropologist Egon von Eickstedt, who in the 1920s took about 12,000 photographic images and 2,000 objects from Adivasi communities in India, Ceylon, and Burma. As a racial anthropologist he defined and fram…

Museum Object Lessons for the Digital Age
Museum Object Lessons for the Digital Age explores the nature of digital objects in museums, asking us to question our assumptions about the material, social and political foundations of digital practices. Through four wide-ranging chapters, each focused on a single object ? a box, pen, effigy and cloak ? this short, accessible book explores the legacies of earlier museum practices of collection, older forms of media (from dioramas to photography…

The influence of environmental drivers on the enrichment of organic carbon in the sea surface microlayer and in submicron aerosol particles – measurements from the Atlantic Ocean
The export of organic matter from ocean to atmosphere represents a substantial carbon flux in the Earth system, yet the impact of environmental drivers on this transfer is not fully understood. This work presents dissolved and particulate organic carbon (DOC, POC) concentrations, their enrichment factors in the sea surface microlayer (SML), and equivalent measurements in marine aerosol particles across the Atlantic Ocean. DOC concentrations avera…
Security for IP multimedia services in the 3GPP third generation mobile system
This paper surveys the security architecture of the IP multimedia core network subsystem (IMS) of the third generation mobile system which is known in Europe as UMTS. The main features of the security architecture include user specific features protecting the access of the IMS user, such as authentication and key agreement when a user registers and integrity protection of IMS access signalling, but also features for the user, independent protecti…
