    Open Access•C J Martins, Paula Jimena Ñañez Ortiz•ARTICLE•Bitácora Urbano Territorial•2025•References: 4

    Open Access•C J Martins, Carolina Jiménez Martín•ARTICLE•Bitácora Urbano Territorial•2016•Cited by: 3

  • Labour market coordination and the evolution of tax regimes

    C J Martins, Cathie Martins et al.•ARTICLE•Socio-Economic Review•2015•Cited by: 13•References: 14

This paper investigates the political coalitions giving rise to diverse types of interactions between revenue systems and welfare states. It has been widely acknowledged that coordinated economies with larger public sectors have somewhat regressive tax systems, with a heavy reliance on the taxation of consumption and wages over capital and property. Liberal economies, alternatively, have had more progressive tax systems but smaller welfare states…

  • Millenarianism in Africa

    Open Access•C J Martins, Clare J L Martins et al.•ARTICLE•Critique of Anthropology•1980•Cited by: 4

  • Note on the use of statistics of total fertility to provide estimates of crude birth rates

    C J Martins, Clare Martin et al.•ARTICLE•Population Studies•1954

It is shown that estimates of the total fertility by age of mother can be used to give good rough approximations to birth rates in under-developed countries and that this method is likely to be more accurate than the collection of historical data relating to particular calendar periods

  • Some estimates of the general age distribution, fertility and rate of natural increase of the African population of British East Africa

    C J Martins, C J Martin•ARTICLE•Population Studies•1953•Cited by: 2

This paper deals with the age distribution, fertility and natural increase among the African population of East Africa. This is the first occasion that an effort has been made to calculate the age distribution for the African population of this area, and comparisons are made with the age distribution in certain other countries. The fertility data have been drawn from the sample census carried out in 1948 and the natural increase estimates have be…
