  • Runoff and Sediment Response to Different Fire Intensities in a Hyrcanian Mixed Broadleaved Forest Ecosystem

Open Access•Hassan Samdaliri, Meghdad Jourgholami et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2025

Wildfires are increasingly recognized as a critical driver of ecosystem degradation, with post‐fire hydrological and soil impacts posing significant threats to biodiversity, water quality, and long‐term land productivity. In fire‐prone regions, understanding how varying fire intensities exacerbate runoff and erosion is essential for guiding post‐fire recovery and sustainable land management. The loss of vegetation and changes in soil properties f…

  • New Media, Contentious Politics, and Political Public Sphere in Iran

    Hadi Sohrabi•ARTICLE•Critical Arts•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 10

This article examines the challenges new communication technologies – the internet, smart phones, and satellite television—pose to the functioning of Iran’s authoritarian and ideological political system. With a focus on nation-wide protests that swept dozens of Iranian cities in 2017–2018 and 2019, the paper explains the ways new media have intensified contentious politics and facilitated oppositional collective actions. It also demonstrates the…

    Hadi Sohrabi•ARTICLE•Ethnic and Racial Studies•2019•Cited by: 5•References: 27

Multiculturalism has been under scrutiny and subject to heated debates by politicians, commentators, and academics over the past two decades. Behind these debates lie concerns about the erosion of social cohesion, national security, and economic problems. This article frames and explains the debates over cultural diversity from the perspective of Durkheimian functionalism. This article presents a systematic review of Durkheim's theory and debunks…

  • Social integration of Australian Muslims: A dramaturgical perspective

    Open Access•Hadi Sohrabi, Karen Farquharson•ARTICLE•Journal of Sociology•2016•Cited by: 3•References: 8

This article presents a dramaturgical view of the social integration of minorities. Based on 30 interviews with prominent Australian Muslim leaders, we argue that they explain and approach the problem of social integration largely in presentational terms. As a corollary, their chief collective and political strategy towards social integration is to put forward alternative discourses to counter the dominant anti-Islam discourses. We use Goffman's …

  • Australian Muslim leaders and normalisation discourses

    Open Access•Hadi Sohrabi, Karen Farquharson•ARTICLE•Ethnicities•2015•Cited by: 5•References: 12

Social integration is a contested concept that has been defined in various ways by different stakeholders. Drawing on research with Australian Muslim leaders, we argue that social integration can be usefully conceptualised as both a process of normalisation and the end product of this process. In this paper, we first discuss the identity aspect of social integration and then outline the discursive strategies the Muslim leaders utilise in their at…
