The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the stated career goals that racial and ethnic minority graduate students in counseling psychology make while pursuing their graduate education. A national sample of 118 minority students, representing 50 training programs, participated. Participants completed a career goal instrument and a demographic questionnaire. Constructs used to compare competitiveness in Mexican-Americans and AngloAmericans have employed a unidimensional and possibly biased definition of competitiveness. This study explored different types of job stressors suggested by cognitive approaches to stress. The social work staff of several county social service agencies completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory, Work Environment Scale, the Jenkins Activity Survey and the Hassles Scale. The data were assessed for correlational trends using a modified hierarchical multiple regression model. Results of the study indicate that stress is related to the minor i…

The purposes of this study were to determine whether teaching and supervision had an impact on reflective-communication development. The experimental strategy included an analytic approach in which various components were systematically varied among four groups of undergraduate students. The major purpose of this investigation was to develop a program for teaching a specific counselor verbal skill and to examine the effect of simulation methods within the program.
