The contribution of metropolitan areas to decarbonize the residential stock in Mediterranean cities: A GIS-based assessment of rooftop PV potential in Valencia, Spain
Challengers in energy transitions beyond renewable energy cooperatives: Community-owned electricity distribution cooperatives in Spain
Over the last decade, grassroots challengers to the Spanish electricity regime have grown in number and diversity. But whilst ‘newer’ renewable actors have attracted increasing scholarly attention, ‘older’, affordability-oriented challengers remain under-studied, despite their evolution. Mobilising security and logistics through an African port: A controversies approach to infrastructure

This article argues that both recent security and mobilities literatures are placing too much emphasis on supposedly all-encompassing global technologies to govern them. It uses a controversies approach to develop a greater sensitivity to the diversity in the global makings of mobility and security. By looking at the port of Dar es Salaam, it reveals how controversies result …
A topolographical approach to infrastructure: Political topography, topology and the port of Dar es Salaam
Economic infrastructure hubs, such as ports, are crucial sites for exploring new political geographies. In such environments, mobilities are enabled and rigidly channelled premised on the stasis of the port-as-checkpoint. Such nodes are part of an ever-growing political geography of zones that requires more attention. This article proposes a 'topolographical' approach - a combined heuristic drawing from political topography and topology - to comp…
Are rights-based approaches helping (re)politicise development NGOs? Exploring the Spanish case
Over the last decades, the rise of managerialism has contributed to the depoliticisation of practices and discourses of Non-Governmental Development Organisations (NGDOs). From some quarters, the adoption of rights-based approaches (RBAs) has been seen as an opportunity to challenge this process. From this standpoint, this article aims to explore to what extent RBAs may have helped (re)politicise the discourses of NGDOs. In order to do so, we loo…
